Good Will Syllabusing

Will won't let me come to his class because he's afraid I will laugh at his interpretations of The Cantos. I have avenged this dick move on his part by stealing his class syllabus from his gmail. It won't be the first time, and it won't be the last.

Will's syllabus starts with two quotes. The first one is major, the second one is minor and like a party joke. Will once tried it out as a pick-up line, it got a good reception, and he went with it on the syllabus. Stephen Jay Gould also tested out his classroom material in this fashion.

Attendance is expected at every class meeting, without exception. More than two unexplained absences will result in a 10% decrease in a student’s final grade. Two or more instances in which a student is significantly late to class will count as an absence. Absences owing to a medical or other emergency circumstance shall be accompanied by a doctor’s (or other official) note.

Three is God, or Allah, whichever you prefer. 1 is an elm tree, and 2 is Charles Simic. Will isn't pictured, but he's up there in the God-range most probably. I'd have to ask him some important questions, like whether or not he's purposefully ignoring James Baldwin because he's a racist.

The Bees (known in United States as A Band of Bees) are an English band from Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. Although their sound is generally classified as indie rock or psychedelic music, the band have a colourful range of styles and influences, such as 1960s rock, country, reggae and jazz.The Bees have so far released three albums: 2002's Mercury Prize-nominated Sunshine Hit Me (which was acclaimed by critics for being recorded in frontman Paul Butler's own garden shed), its 2004 major label follow-up Free the Bees (which was recorded at the influential Abbey Road Studios), and the band's most recent work, 2007's Octopus. The first two albums feature songs that have been used in British television advertisements, which are partially responsible for the band's recognition: Sunshine Hit Me's "A Minha Menina", a cover of an Os Mutantes track, appeared in a Citroën car commercial, whilst "Chicken Payback" and "Wash in the Rain", both from Free the Bees, were incorporated in adverts for Sure Deodorant for Men and Sainsbury's, respectively.
